Die Treppe (the steps)

Ich bin in Deutschland! Today we went to a silver mine...pretty cool. It actually was a lot more fun then I expected, we got to wear the helmets with the lights on them, which makes anything about ten times more fun.
I think the one thing that we have overdone a bit while here is walking to the top of tall things...churches, metal thingys, mountains, castles...it is all the same view! I really can't complain though, everytime we reach the top of something it always seems worth it for that moment. But I have had to stop taking pictures of the views, or all my pictures will be of really small houses and trees.
We spent our first few days in Rothenburg, a very pretty medieval city. That was a lot of fun, we did a lot of wandering around the city, we spoke German to the shopkeepers, they sometimes answered us in German, sometimes in English. We waded in the Tauber (a river), we ate ice cream, we watched the semi-finales of Germany v. Turkey in soccer, and celebrated with the Germans when they won.
Then we came to Waldkirch and met with our German students and their families. I have spent the past few days eating way too much (they don't believe me when I say I am full), convincing them I can ride a bike (they didn't think Americans knew how), swimming (in the public pool with a really awesome slide), and sleeping when I get a chance (they like to stay up to at least midnight...even on school nights).
I have had a good time, and I look forward to the next few weeks.
